Oktoberfest #7: Hung over?

Oktoberfest continues. Now let’s see how people in Germany, as known as the country of beer, prevent and deal with hung over. These are the recommendations from our German friends.


Before and while drinking
Eat well and fatty before drink
Fatty or protein-rich food takes longer to be digested. Thus eating those before you drink will prevent the absorption of alcohol.


Make sure to take nutrition, especially salt with beer
Fat and salt will provide you mineral. Good news is: Pretzels help you!


Before going to bed
Honey before bed
Honey contains fructose, which helps alcohol decomposition. So take honey before going to bed will give you headache-free morning.

Aspirin and water before bed
Before going to bed, take one aspirin and, especially, lots of water.

Next morning
Caffeine next morning
Caffeine in coffee or coke will refresh you next morning.

Eat nutritious breakfast
Your liver has been keep working to break down alcohol. Vitamins and minerals are important to help this function. Eating breakfast which is rich in amino acid, for example eggs and grapefruits, is also recommended.
Some people recommend to drink 3 raw eggs in the morning. But if it’s too hard to do, fried eggs will help you as well.

So, get out of bed and enjoy morning coffee, breakfast, and headache-free day!



Aspirin, if it’s too bad
Got very bad hung over? Well, aspirin might be a solution.
