Christmas Illumination in London


“London twinkles over the winter time with an array of magical Christmas lights”.

Night falls around 4pm and gentle rain falls every day. The winter in London can be very depressing… Well, it is until the Christmas illumination starts in the beginning of November.
Dreamy illumination will make you think “um, long, dark winter night in London is not that bad!”

So, grab some hot drink and let you go for a stroll to enjoy this very special moment in London!


Christmas Lights in London
Every year, every street, the lights have a different theme. Regent Street lights celebrate the London 2012 Games and the lights at Carnaby Street were designed by the Rolling Stones this year. Only 1 night is not enough to see everything to find your favorite illumination.

Oxford Street: World famous Christmas lights

World famous Oxford Street becomes huge Christmas tree. Gift boxes, candies, etc. decorate  street. Just walking Oxford Street will thrill you as if you are tearing off the wrapping of the Christmas present!

Regent Street: Olympic parade again

Decorated with gold holly and red berry garlands, celebratory tributes to the Olympic and Paralympic teams will hang from the sky, and gold filigree plaques along the street will tell the story of the twelve days of Christmas.

Carnaby Street: Avant-garde Christmas

When you need a change from dreamy Christmas, go Carnaby Street. Carnaby Street is known for its unique decorations each year, and, in 2012, they teamed up with the Rolling Stones, who celebrate their 50th anniversary this year.
The decorations consists of huge 3D spheres suspended throughout Carnaby Street containing gold and silver vinyl records emblazoned with the band's iconic artwork and album covers. The Carnaby arches are also dressed with the Stones' tongue logo.

Covent Garden: Fun to look at and taste great

The Covent Garden Christmas lights transforms the area with a stunning installation from the United Visual Artists. There you can also enjoy;
- London Gay Men's Chorus performances: Every Saturday from Nov. 10th to Dec. 15th.
- Reindeer petting: Every Saturday from Nov. 10th between 12pm and 4pm
- Covent Garden Christmas Food Market: Open every Thursday from 11am to 7pm
