Bangkok、Thailand : Songkran

Songkran, the traditional Thai New Year celebration, will take place across the country from April 13th to 15th.
Well, Songkran goes by the name "water festival".

No matter who you are; grown-ups or 5 year old kids, Thais or tourists from whatever the country is, Songkran is the festival to celebrate New Year with splashing water on each other.

Splash”, yes I said “splash”. But most of the time, it is not really “splash”.
People will splash water on you with a bucket or hose, so you will be soaking wet as soon as you step out of the hostel. Since April is the hottest month in Thailand, being drenched both in water and in sunlight is a pleasant experience.
Sounds fun, right?  No matter who you are, Songkran is for you to enjoy life and to smile.

Where to enjoy Songkran:
In Bangkok, Khao San Road and Silom Road may be the best spots. Khao San Road will be packed with foreign backpackers and they will not hesitate to dash water on you.
On the other hand, Silom Road will literally be packed with people, mostly locals.
They might be less aggressive compared to the foreign tourists, but, since more people will splash water on you, you will anyway get dripping wet.

Once sun goes down, it's time to enjoy cold beer and splashing water on your friends at a bar.

There are still some vacancies. So if you find a cheap flight to Bangkok,  take advantage of it.

Enjoy!
